Ha Long Bay

Olá.
Ha Long Bay (descending dragon bay), Património Mundial da UNESCO, tem uma área de cerca de 1.553 km2, incluindo 1,960-2,000 ilhotas, a maioria das quais de calcário. A baía é composta por um denso aglomerado de mais de 1969, ilhas monolíticas de calcário cada uma coberta com uma densa vegetação, erguendo-se do oceano de uma forma abismal.
Muitas das ilhas são ocas, com enormes cavernas. Há duas ilhas maiores, Tuan Chau e Cat Ba, que são permanentemente habitadas e possuem infra-estruturas turísticas como hotéis e praias.
Existe uma comunidade de cerca de 1.600 pessoas a viver em Ha Long Bay dispersas por quatro vilas de pescadores: Cua Van, Ba Hang, Cong Tau e Vong Vieng em Hùng comuna Thang, Ha Long City, vivem em casas flutuantes, subsistindo através da pesca e da aquicultura marinha.
Outra característica específica de Halong Bay é a abundância de lagos no interior das ilhas de pedra calcária, chegando a existir seis lagos fechados.
Este foi o belíssimo destino contemplado no 2º e na manha do 3º dia de viagem. Apesar de ser uma das pérolas do Vietnam Ha Long Bay está longe de ser protegida e cuidada pelos locais e turistas. Já se vê muita poluição na água, com muitos barcos a pernoitar ininterruptamente, dando ao mundo a conhece-la mas invariavelmente ajudando a desfigura-la.

Ha Long Bay (descending dragon bay) is UNESCO World Heritage Site, has an area of about 1,553 km2, including 1.960 to 2.000 islets, most of which are limestone. The bay consists of a dense cluster of over 1969 limestone monolithic islands each covered with dense vegetation, rising from the ocean. Many of the islands are hollow, with enormous caves. There are two bigger islands, Tuan Chau and Cat Ba, which are permanently inhabited with tourist facilities, including hotels and beaches.
There is a community of about 1,600 people live on Ha Long Bay in four fishing villages: Cua Van, Ba Hang, Cong Tau and Vong Vieng for Hùng Thang commune, Ha Long City, living in houseboats, subsisting by fishing and marine aquaculture.
Another specific feature of Halong Bay is the abundance of lakes inside the limestone islands. For example, Dau Be island has six enclosed lakes.
This was the place we visited on the 2th and morning of the 3th day. Despite being one of Vietnam's pearls Ha Long Bay is far from being protected and looked after by locals and tourists. We can already see a lot of pollution in the water, with lot of boats continuously staying overnight, offering the world a view of their paradise but nevertheless helping to disfigure it.

Shorts and hat

Olá, estes foi um dos outfits que usei no Vietnam. Numa viagem onde o calor reina é muito importante sentir-me confortável e fresca. Não sei se vos acontece mas uso muito mais facilmente chapéus, calções curtos ou outros artigos mais exuberante quando estou fora de Portugal, não sei se é o receio de ser julgada ou observada, para uma pessoa que ama a moda e que já tem alguma maturidade confesso que é um fenómeno estranho e difícil de explicar.
Aproveitem bem o fim de semana :)

Hello , this was one of the outfits i wore on Vietnam. It's very important to feel comfortable and light when your traveling in such hot weather. I don't know if that happens to you but somehow is so much easier for me to wear hats, tiny shorts or other exuberant items when i'm abroad. For a person that loves fashion and that is mature enough that's a very strange and odd phenomenon to explain and understand , maybe is the fear of being judged and scrutinized...

Com os próximos posts vou colocar à prova a minha capacidade de síntese, na medida em que tenho IMENSAS fotos que gostaria de partilhar convosco, espero não correr o risco de vos maçar, assim vou fazer um post por cada dia que passei no Vietnam, à medida que vos falo um pouco da nação pela qual me apaixonei perdidamente. Espero que gostem.

O Vietnam , oficialmente a República Socialista do Vietnam, é o pais mais a Este da península Indochina. Tem aproximadamente 90 milhões de habitantes. Desde a reunificação do Vietnam do Norte e do Sul em 1976 que a sua capital é Hanoi, onde iniciei a viagem e onde foram tiradas as fotos que vos mostro hoje.

Tornaram-se independentes da China Imperial em 938 AC. Foram colonizados pelos Franceses em meados do século XIX. A primeira Guerra da Indochina levou eventualmente à expulsão dos Franceses da região em 1954, deixando o país dividido politicamente em duas regiões Vietnam do Norte e Vietnam do Sul. O conflito entre os dois estados intensificou-se,  levando a forte intervenção estrangeira durante a Guerra do Vietnam, que acabou com a vitória do Vietnam do Norte em 1975. Foi assim unificado sob um regime Comunista , no entanto o pais foi isolado politica e economicamente. Em 1986 o governo iniciou uma data de reformas económicas e políticas que impulsionaram a economia do país. Pelo ano 2000 ja tinha estabelecido relações diplomáticas com um elevado número de países. O crescimento económico do país foi o mais elevado no mundo desde o ano 2000. No entanto é um país de enormes discrepâncias sociais, económicas, de género e não só.

Estes antagonismos estão refletidos nas ruas, com pobreza e falta de higiene rodeada de riqueza e luxúria nas cores, cheiros, vivacidade e empreendedorismo do povo. Bicicletas e roupas modestas paralelas a Bentleys e às maiores lojas de alta costura do mundo.

Mas vou deixar que as fotos falem por si e vos mostrem porque amei esta viagem.

In the next posts I will put to test my ability to summarize, as I have so MANY pictures that I would love to share with you, but i don't want to take the risk of boring you, so I'll make a post for each day I spent in Vietnam, while I tell you a bit about the nation i feel madly in love with. The Vietnam, officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated 90 million inhabitants. Its capital city has been Hanoi since the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1976, and is also where I started my trip. The Vietnamese became independent from Imperial China in 938 AD, were colonized by the French in the mid nineteenth century. The first Indochina War eventually led to the expulsion of the French in 1954, leaving the country divided politically into two states of North and South Vietnam. Conflict between the two sides has intensified, leading to strong foreign intervention during the Vietnam war, which ended with the victory of North Vietnam in 1975. Vietnam was then unified under a Communist government, but was politically and economically isolated. In 1986 the government initiated a series of economic and political reforms that boosted the country's economy. By 2000 it had already established diplomatic relations with most nations. The country's economic growth was the highest in the world since 2000. However it is a country of huge discrepancies, social, economic, gender and beyond.

These antagonisms are reflected in the streets, with poverty and poor hygiene surrounded by wealth and luxury in the colors, smells, vibrancy and entrepreneurship of the people. Bicycles and modest clothing parallel with Bentleys and the hight fashion stores. 

But I'll let the photos speak for themselves and show you why i loved this trip so much.
